My Journeyful Life: A Quest to Live a More Passionate and Purposeful Life
I grew up knowing I could be anything I wanted to be. I often joke and say that if I’d told my parents and older sisters (who were like my second, third, and fourth mothers) that I wanted to be a flying superhero with a pink cape and a princess wand when I grew up, they would tell me “Go for it!” with as much enthusiasm as if I’d said a teacher, or something else equally as logical.
The only thing they required of me was that I was the best flying superhero with a pink cape and a princess wand that the world ever saw.
Excellence. That’s what was demanded of me. As a result it is something I’ve strived for my whole life.
But while excellence is a quality to be admired, it’s only part of what life is about. It’s also about conquering fears, living in the moment, seizing the day, being authentic and so many other clichés I don’t need to list here. Most of all, for me, it’s about taking everything one day at a time.
Various conversations over the last year for some reason compelled different people – none of whom knew each other – to let me know that life isn’t about the destination as much as it’s about the journey. It didn't click the first time or even the second. My response was something along the lines of, “Uh huh yea. Sure.” But after a while the coincidences became too many not to stop and listen.
So I took some time to reflect, and it inspired me to finally create a name for my blog.
From this point onward, I’ve promised myself to focus more on living a journeyful life, one in which I don’t stress about reaching my destination/goals fast enough. The pursuit of dreams shouldn’t get in the way of appreciating the moments and the opportunities that arise in the present moment.
I'm on a quest to live a more passionate and purposeful life. I love writing, reading, running, spending time alone, developing quality relationships and working toward positive change. I want a life that has these things, and more, in abundance.
I also love working hard, being challenged, and learning. I want growing, dreaming, achieving, inspiring, believing to be words that drive my daily life. I want to live every day recognizing the unique combination of gifts and talents that I can contribute to this world. Lastly, I want to do all these things without forgetting the lessons I was taught about excellence as a child.
For those of you who regularly read my blog, I just want to say thank you for being a constant source of encouragement even when you don’t realize it. For those of you who are new to my site, can I trick you into thinking that the design was always this fabulous? (Oh and welcome!)
I’m excited about what the future has to offer, and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
P.S. I would love feedback on the new site! I’m no pro so it took me quite some time and energy, not to mention begging much smarter people for lots of help. If you have any difficulties viewing anything on the site please let me know so that I can fix it!
